Thinking Pink! Interview With Sam Irvin, Author of From Funny Face to Eloise

Lordy!here is a special treat! Acclaimed author, director, and producer Sam Irvin sits down with me to talk about his book, Kay Thompson: From Funny Face to Eloise, and all about the fabulously fantastic Ms. Thompson, and her scandalously delightful pint-sized creation: Eloise.

Sam Irvin

Mr. Irvin patiently answered all my questions and graciously let me in on all sorts of things about the famous leading lady, from her wild successes, secret lovers, and world changing fashion sense to her massive unsung influence on all of Hollywood, her brilliance in almost everything she touched and her struggles with substance abuse…

Despite all of Kay’s wonderfulness, her beacon of a star has been hidden in the back closets of Hollywood dressing rooms. Long forgotten and unappreciated – but not anymore! Mr. Irvin shows us all just how much Kay did for her era and beyond without ever missing a beat. You can find your copy of Kay Thompson: From Funny Face to Eloise at a bookstore near you or by clicking here.

To find out more on Mr. Irvin, his book, Kay, and Eloise herself, scimper on over to his website, www.kaythompsonwebsite.com for all sorts of vastly important information and events…
Also, you can catch Mr. Irvin and Hilary Knight (illustrator of the Eloise books) at Author’s Night at The East Hampton Public Library in East Hampton, New York, on Saturday, August 11th 2012!

And so, without further ado, here’s the interview for lord’s sake! (he he)

Recycled Problems: State Pulls A Fast One, Horry County In The Lurch?

The City of Conway is in a jam after last night’s city council meeting brought big news from the state on recycling issues. Mike Bessant, Solid Waste Authority’s governmental affairs director, went up in front of the council to bring to light a major turn of events that could change the way people in Horry County recycle their old electronics.

According to Bessant, the State Budget Control Board is trying to cut cost on their end which could potentially raise costs for people  trying to properly get rid of electronic goods. Bessant explained that back in 2010 a ban came into effect prohibiting

Pixar Makes Waves With Brave...

Score one for the red heads! Carrot tops, (my lovely Scottish mama included) all over the world are exclaiming over Pixar's newest-soon-to-be-beloved -character Merida.

The film, Brave, is set in the Scotland Highlands during the 10th century and tells the story of a beautifully different princess with a mind and will of her own. Princess Merida  isn't your typical

Hollywood Goes South: A Look At Tinseltown's Southerness

Pop culture has been busy lately  checking out it's southern side., And I ran across two pieces of southern fried fluff articles (in a two-minute span, no less!) that I thought were interesting enough to share with all of you.

First up is a interview with Hanna Hall, A.K.A young Jenny, from Forest Gump. In this

City of Conway Holds Gem In Business License Department

I usually hate having to go to the city of Conway offices for anything. You never know who or what your going to have to deal with when you get there and it usually takes about three big breaths and a constant "nobodies perfect" chant in my head to make it through. However there is an exception, there is one person I like to visit in the business license department. Mr.Eldred Johnson is the...

How Eloise! Taught Me To Be ME...

I hate to admit that I was a late comer to the Eloise fan club. I vaguely remember seeing her skitter across my Television set once , when I was around 7 but it wasn't until one fateful day in the  Barns and Noble children's section that I finally met the little scamp formally.

The budding artist in me was instantly pulled in by Hilary Knights eye catching illustrations strewn all over the pages in a pallet of pink and black against white, and my sarcastic heart thrilled to the things that were pouring out of this little imp's mouth. I had never before laid eyes on a children's book like
that before, and part of me thought that I had stumbled upon one of those cartoons for adults sort of things before I noticed that the publisher was indeed one faithful to the children's genre.

I stared down at that book (the ultimate edition, the one with Eloise, Eloise in Paris, Eloise At Christmas Time, and Eloise In Moscow all rolled into one) and I knew two things: I was taking it home and it was

WattPad-What's The Word?

Too good to be true?

A few weeks ago I was lying in bed, once again without anything to read. I have always had this problem. You see I’m and ink drinker, a page gobbler, a word vacuum, or for the sensitive an avid reader. And the one drawback of this addiction is the fact that when I get books I devour them and then I have to starve until I get more.

This wouldn’t be a problem if I could live inside a library or if I had an unlimited book budget but I don’t. Ergo me, lying in the bed, staring at the ceiling, attempting to write stories in my head or re-reading (for the thousandth time) something from my collection. I love you Jane Eyre, but honey, the 7th time around you gets a little depressing.

And so I went hunting for something to read. Having finished all the classics in the “free” section in Google books, I turned to Google search to see if there was something else (legal mind you) out there that would let me read for free. I seriously doubted it but low and behold, I stumbled on something unbelievable.

When Monday Rains, It Pours.......

I knew today was gonna be hard. Besides the fact that Mondays are always National "kick you in the gut/bad hair/lost car keys/day from Hades/ Day, here lately every time I have to leave the shelter of my sweethearts arms and face the week its a miracle I even make it through the day without having a Julia Sugerbaker style meltdown at every corner.

Let me say I am sorry if you came here today looking for something cute or light to take up your time while you should be doing something else, but I don't feel like regurgitating rainbow unicorns and being all domestic and fabulous when I feel about as fabulous as a Republican after the 2008 election.

Time Is Change In Disguise…

I recently saw an old friend I hadn’t seen in a couple years and it gave me an incredible jolt of nostalgia. As we said hello I couldn’t tell that the person had changed at all, except for one thing: that steady clam in the eyes that only comes with growing up. Gone was the wild, “I’m invincible” look, and in its place was a humbleness that was almost bittersweet.
As we stood there asking about other friends and family I realized that we have all moved on so much since those days we spent all those
